The AKG K702 is a neutral headpiece with an open back reference. It is designed especially for professional mixing and mastering. This headphone does not emphasize anything; every sound that you hear from it is exactly how it sounds on your recording. This is not only a great tool for listening to music; it is also good for creating music. If you ever worked in the radio or recording industry, then you are already very familiar with AKG headphones and microphones since they have been on the scene since the 1940s. AKG products have been the standard for recording studio headphones and microphones for many decades now.

This headphone is ideal for mixing and for mastering because when it sounds great with the K702, then it is guaranteed to sound great everywhere. It is not really the best headphone to use for enjoying music since, unlike other headphones, it does not boost the bass, although, the AKG K702 provides an excellent acoustic detail with much clarity from a close tolerance aluminum voice coil design. It has a well built and durable construction. It is also lightweight and has a comfortable fit which is good if you are going to work long hours using it. The K 702 is designed with a detachable headphone cord that allows for an easy cable replacement or upgrade.
In terms of the audio performance, it does not have resonances or peaks; it simply offers neutral sound, so expect it to sound weak in the bass and for it to have more overall midrange. If you want to hear what is actually on your mix, then you should choose the AKG K 702 because that is what it is made for.
The AKG K 702 is an inexpensive way for you to get an impressive sound. It is a top of the line, full size headphone. This is a professional model which offers a precise articulation and an engrossing and accurate musical representation. If you are looking for a headphone that you can only use to listen to music on your iPod all day, this one’s probably not the best fit for you.
